Utah Tech Online

Why Online?

Why Take an Online Course as a Student On Campus?

So you’re here—on campus—studying at Utah Tech University. Why would you take an online course?

Does any of this sound familiar?

  • My schedule is hectic! I need flexible time for my job / sport / academic commitment / family responsibility.
  • The class I need is completely full here on campus.
  • I’d rather study at my own pace.

If any of that rings a bell, then studying online may be perfect for you! Taking a course online gives you more control over your schedule, letting you study when it works best for you. In addition, online classes are often more flexible than in-person classes, meaning you can perform independently and at your own pace. And often, when sections of a course are full on campus, you may be able to find a seat in your needed course online. In some cases, that means graduating on time and as planned, without having to delay.

What will it cost?

Individual online courses are charged the same tuition as on-campus courses, so your classes will cost the same whether in-person or online. There is, however, an additional $30 per credit fee for courses delivered online.

Online Courses vs. Online Programs

Utah Tech offers both online courses and programs. Online courses can be taken by any student; while online programs are for students who opt to earn their entire degree virtually. Tuition for online courses is identical to in-person courses with the addition of a $30/per credit delivery fee, while online programs have a flat cost of $255 per credit hour.

Questions?

“[My online class] fit a lot with my schedule, because I work. It was the best way for me to have that one extra class that I needed.”
