THE ONLINE Master of Sport Management

The Master of Science in Sport Management program (SPMG) is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge to excel in administrative roles within the sports industry. The SPMG program focuses on the high-level management, coordination, and operation of athletic teams, departments, and organizations at the amateur, collegiate, and professional sport levels.

As the sports industry expands rapidly, the need for administrators with specialized training becomes more complex and important. A graduate degree in Sport Management is widely recognized by industry professionals and gives graduates an important advantage when seeking employment.

Our SPMG program is a fully-online graduate degree with a focus on practical experiences through real world applications, study abroad, and internships. The 30-credit comprehensive education prepares students for successful careers in the sports industry and only requires 12 to 18 months. Chose from two emphases—Athletic Administration or Sport Performance Management.

Program Learning Outcomes

At the successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

  1. Manage multifaceted organizations and their personnel in the development and enhancement of sport operations and performance.
  2. Analyze data sets pertaining to athletic and organizational performance to develop insights and formulate development plans.
  3. Analyze critical issues and apply appropriate principles, models, and strategies to complex and diverse settings in the sport industry.
  4. Evaluate resource acquisition and allocation in athletic departments and its impact on organizational operations and athlete development, health, and performance.
  5. Combine theoretical knowledge with its practical application through experiential learning and practice.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Must hold a B.A. or B.S. from a regionally accredited institution or its international equivalent.
  • Resume/CV: A copy of your resume or curriculum vitae.
  • Letter of Intent: Your letter should indicate the emphasis you intend to pursue, as well as contain a summary of your professional goals and career interests and how the program will help you attain them.
  • Recommendations: Submit two confidential letters of recommendation, one of which should be from a professor or individual that can speak to your writing skills and ability to succeed academically at the graduate level.
  • GPA: Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in the last 60 credit hours of undergraduate studies. Individuals with a GPA lower than 3.0 may be admitted provisionally/conditionally.
  • Official Transcripts: Provide all transcripts from previous institutions.

Cost

The Master of Science in Sport Management is only $400 per credit, which means the 30-credit program is a total of $12,000.
